- Description of the Hi-Standard HDM

The Hi-Standard HDM (also written as "High Standard HDM") is a blowback, semi-automatic pistol equipped with an integrated suppressor.

Despite its weak cartridge, it is very silent. Shot reports are estimated to be around 20 dB.

History

The design of the Hi-Standard was delivered on January 20th, 1944. Original models feature a Parkerized finish on the suppressor. It was adopted by the Office of Strategic Services during World War II. Bill Donovan, head of the OSS demonstrated its capability to President Franklin D. Roosevelt during a meeting. However it was chambered with metal-jacketed .22 LR due to "wartime concerns".

Fed from a ten round detachable box magazine, the Hi-Standard had a safety lever located to the left of the frame in a similar fashion to the M1911A1 and the Browning Hi-Power. According to an apocryphal account, it was also manufactured in Argentina.

In-game

The Hi-Standard HDM is featured in Call to Battle 2 as a product of the OSS Kit, a kit loosely based on operatives of the organization. Despite its weak cartridge, this makes the pistol have relatively low recoil. It is also very reliable in fighting.
