- Description of the M1911

The M1911 is an American, semi-automatic pistol featured in Call to Battle 2.

Overview

Designed by John Browning, the M1911 was adopted as the service pistol of the United States military on March 29th, 1911. It was a favorite among officers in the army. In World War I, a total of 68,533 M1911s were produced.

In 1924 a new variant of the M1911, called the M1911A1, was developed. The 1911A1 pistol had minor changes compared to the M1911, notably the front sights of the pistol.

Several countries began to develop their own copies of the M1911. Examples include the Norwegian Kongsberg Colt and the Polish Pistolet wz. 35 Vis. Some of these copies used the M1911's .45 ACP cartridge while others used different cartridges.

In World War II, officers still used the 1911 pistol and are highly prized by collectors today, even if they are in poor condition.

In-game

The M1911 is the default sidearm of the United States Army. An effective sidearm, the M1911 is reliable in close combat. Its downsides include almost uncontrollable recoil, medium damage, and its 7 round magazine. The M1911 is on par with the Walther P38 in-terms of damage, recoil and reliability.

The M1911 is effective at killing opponents from 10-15 blocks away, being more effective than shotguns and CQB SMGs. Ranges farther than that suit revolvers and short SMGs. Thus making the M1911 a killing machine in close quarters.
