The vz. 24 is a Czechoslovakian bolt-action, carbine developed and produced from 1924 to 1942. It is featured in Call to Battle 2.

Intended to replace the vz. 98/22. The vz. 24 was exported to many countries across the globe including Romania and Nazi Germany.

History

Formed from the ashes of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Czechoslovakia received control of the Skoda factory in Brno where it was renamed to Brno Arms Works. The factory began producing short rifles based on the German Gewehr 98 line of rifles. The vz. 98/22 was produced.

However the Gewehr 98 and vz. 98/22 slowly became more outdated, prompting Czechoslovakia to develop a modern derivative. It began developing a rifle based on the Karabiner 98AZ. It was refined to the vz. 23A which consisted of newly manufactured parts. Further refinement resulted in the vz. 24, entering production in 1924. The vz. 24 featured components based on Mauser rifles.

The rifle was a success, being made the standard-issue weapon for soldiers of the Czech military. It was also exported to countries such as Romania where it was also made standard-issue in 1938. Vz. 24s imported to Germany were designated as Gewehr 24(t).

In-game

The vz. 24 is featured in Call to Battle 2 as the standard infantry rifle of the Romanian Army. It shares similar stats to the Karabiner 98 kurz. Despite being a Czechoslovakian rifle, it can be found in the Romanian section of the creative inventory, due to the absence of Czechoslovakia.

It is chambered for the 7.92x57mm Mauser cartridge.

    • However it can attach a bayonet, but this will increase the length of the rifle and make it difficult to hide in corners, when equipped.

Trivia

  • The previous model of the vz. 24 resembled the old model of rifles such as the Karabiner 98 kurz.
  • The Vz. 24 is often regarded as Connor's favorite Mauser
  • As it stands, the Vz. 24 uses a Kar98k bayonet, which historically it could use, however the Kar98k bayonet's weren't as secure on the Vz.24 and were vulnerable to breaking the bayonet or lug, this will be changed when the Vz. 24 is remodeled.
