The M1 Garand is an American semi-automatic service rifle featured in Call to Battle 2.

Made standard-issue to U.S soldiers in 1936, the M1 Garand was a common weapon used by soldiers during World War II.

History

Named after its designer John Garand, the M1 Garand was developed to replace the aging bolt-action M1903 Springfield. Both rifles fired the same cartridge that is the .30-06 Springfield.

Called by General George S. Patton as "the greatest battle implement ever devised", the M1 Garand continued to see service even after World War II. About 5.4 million units were made.

The rifle was also well known for its distinctive "ping" sound where the rifle ejects the loaded clip once all 8 rounds have been fired. This developed into a rumor that German and Japanese infantry were on alert for said ping noise in-order to catch U.S troops off guard.

In-game

The M1 Garand is featured in Call to Battle 2 as the default weapon of the Rifleman class. It is reliable in medium to long range engagements, the latter is best suited with a scope equipped.

Like all other gas-operated rifles, the M1 Garand is prone to jamming requiring the user to cycle a round manually. It is not cumbersome and barely slows down the user's movement speed.

  • Possibly to save time or a developer oversight, the bolt's interior isn't hollow.
